Word: Nerve | Tidal Gestures is a collaboration with American artist and designer Edwin Schlossberg. In this book, the artist continues to explore the meaning of words in relation to their graphic presence on the page. The use of different printing surfaces is a reference to the artist’s earlier collaborations with ULAE (United Limited Art Editions) and Tatyana Grosman.
Word: Nerve and Tidal Gestures are two separate parts of the same artist’s book. Each sequence is printed on a specific paper of contrasting weight and texture, making a tactile distinction across each part. While Pharmaprint is almost transparent allowing for the text to appear through the pages, Splendorlux is double sided with a very shiny face and another rough one. Both works are bound together in a sequence that can be read both ways, reinforcing the playfulness of the artist’s proposal.
